GPX Inc. was founded in 1971 in St. Louis Missouri and was known as Dick Proctor Imports at the time. GPX imported electronics from Asia and in 1973 started the Gran Prix Electronics division. They officially changed their name to GPX in 1985. GPX still manufactures a wide range of consumer electronics, including boomboxes.
