Quasar was the brand name used by Motorola in 1967 for their line of color TV’s. In 1974, Quasar was sold to Matsushita Electric Corporation of America, or MECA. MECA manufactures brands like Panasonic, Technics and Quasar. Quasar boomboxes were made in Japan.
